When I first awakened it was so hard because I felt crazy; I felt like I would never be normal again; maybe I never was. I always was different and now this confirms it. My awakening changed my life in so many ways - it lead me to find out what I can really do, who I really am and in turn who my mom really is, and that she knew all the time all about me. It made us closer and in some ways it reminded me of all the secrets she kept from me all of my life. Awakenings do change your life they could either help you be better or if you let your fears take control of you, then it could destroy you.

Awakenings could even help you have a stronger bond with your family and friends if you’re lucky or they could turn their backs on you or think you’re crazy in all truth. Any of this, good or bad, could happen but in the end you have to be you. I had to learn that the hard way this year; I had to learn that no matter how many issues and no matter if others think I am crazy or crazier then I am, I have to be myself; I have to embrace all of me. I am not human no matter my looks. And my awakenings, all of them, are a gift, a gift that if you let it will make your life and you better, that can make you a better writer or artist or whatever it is that gives your life meaning.

Awakenings can be going on your whole life and that is a good thing because we all change, as we get older and better like a fine wine. It is our time to shine and teach what being otherkin or therein or vampire or whatever you are - teach the world the truth of our kind, teach them who we really are and just lead by example. In the end we need to be proud of the changes we go through because it’s part of who we are as a people.
